About TattsLotto (Saturday Lotto)
TattsLotto — known as Saturday Lotto in NSW and ACT, Gold Lotto in Queensland, and X Lotto in South Australia — is Australia's original and most popular weekly lottery game. Operated by The Lott, it has been running since 1972 and is drawn every Saturday at approximately 8:30pm AEST, delivering a guaranteed minimum Division 1 prize pool of $4 Million.
How TattsLotto Works
TattsLotto uses a straightforward 6-from-45 format. In each draw:
- 6 winning numbers are drawn from a barrel containing balls numbered 1 to 45
- 2 supplementary numbers are then drawn from the remaining 39 balls
- 6 prize divisions determine the winners based on how many numbers match
To play, you select 6 numbers between 1 and 45 on a game panel. A standard game costs $1.20, with tickets available at licensed retailers and online through The Lott.

Superdraws & Megadraws
Several times per year, TattsLotto runs special promotional draws with dramatically increased prize pools. Superdraws typically offer $20 Million Division 1 pools, while end-of-year Megadraws can reach $30M–$40M or more. These events generate 3–4 times the normal ticket sales, meaning Division 1 is more likely to be won but may also be shared among more winners.
Superdraw events are announced in advance, making them popular occasions for occasional lottery players to join in. Approximately 6–7 Superdraws are held each year.
Historical Insights from Our Data
Our analysis of thousands of TattsLotto draws from 2008 to the present reveals several noteworthy patterns:
- Division 1 is won in approximately 60–65% of standard Saturday draws
- The average number of Division 1 winners per won draw is 2–3 tickets
- Most winning number sets contain a balanced mix of odd and even numbers (typically 3/3 or 4/2 split)
- Numbers above 31 appear in winning sets just as frequently as lower numbers, but are less commonly picked by players (known as the "birthday bias")
- No single number has shown statistically significant deviation from expected frequency over the full 17-year dataset, confirming the draws are random
- The sum of winning numbers typically falls between 100 and 200, with extremes being very rare
TattsLotto vs Other Games
With Division 1 odds of 1 in 8,145,060, TattsLotto offers the best odds of winning a multi-million dollar prize among Australia's major lottery games. By comparison, Powerball's odds are 1 in 134,490,400 — over 16 times harder. Oz Lotto sits in between at 1 in 62,891,499. The trade-off is that TattsLotto's jackpots are typically smaller ($4M–$20M vs Powerball's $50M+ regular jackpots).
TattsLotto uses the same 6-from-45 format as Weekday Windfall, but with a guaranteed minimum of $4M compared to Weekday Windfall's fixed $1M prize. For a comprehensive comparison of all games, read our odds breakdown guide.
Strategy Considerations
While TattsLotto draws are entirely random, our analytics tools can help you make informed selections. The frequency analysis shows which numbers have appeared most over various time windows. The pairs analysis reveals which numbers commonly appear together in winning draws. Choosing numbers above 31 can reduce the chance of sharing a Division 1 prize, since many players select dates and birthdays.
Our number generator offers five strategies — Hot, Cold, Balanced, Weighted, and Random — each using a different analytical approach to the historical data. No strategy improves your mathematical odds, but it can help you select numbers with confidence and avoid popular combinations.
